But what about all the other Irish? I don't recall the the New England WASPs creating Tammany Hall. They weren't the ones who wrecked the old New England townhall democracy wherever they went. Today the Irish of the north continue to romanticize Ellis Island and spit at those awful working class WASPs who had the nerve to resent their towns being invaded and wages being threatened. In short the Irish in the North did not completely assimilate. In the South they did because they were thin on the ground, but up north they conquered parts of the country through sheer force of numbers.
