You give a litany of like-minded things shared by Jews and Catholics, but the one thing they do not share, most absolutely and most importantly, is that Jesus Christ is the Messiah, and this is the basis of our differences; this is the basis of Jewish historical antipathy toward the Catholic Church. C'mon, give me a break, pal. You wanna be honest, then be honest. My argument isn't with race or culture, but with the distortion of the TRUTH (this most likely is why I have sometimes been called anti-Semite). As for Romans 9-11, I am not sure why you cited it, and I am afraid I do not see how it supports your argument. There is nothing in that verse which sets the tone about rejection of the Messiah. It is about God's predilection in choosing whom He wants. I quote, "For when the children were not yet born, nor had done any good or evil, (that the purpose of God according to election might stand.)" The reference, here, is about Esau and Jacob. I have been unable to find a commentary that supports your viewpoint on this verse. You might, as matter of consideration, provide me with yours. By the way, I am using the Douay-Rheims Bible.
