There is nothing I would disagree with but something I would add. Many recent popes have spoken out against the arms trade, noting that money spent on arms is food taken from the mouths of the poor. And of course, when the arms are actually used, as in Iraq and Lebanon, the poor don't have to worry about starvation. They're just bombed and burned to death. Here in Texas, where neo-conservatism combines with fanatic nationalism in a most diabolical mix, many writers post comments on the web encouraging this arms deal in the hopes that it will enable the "ragheads" to better slaughter each other. I cannot believe that the US will escape God's judgment for the evil it is doing throughout the world. Sent at: 2008 09 07
