If you read my above comment carefully, you'll see that I agree with George Kennan that the West ought to just "keep the peace" and leave China alone, for the most part. The idea that nuking Chairman Mao's China might have been a good idea, is not "typically American" at all. 2. I said only a "part of me" thinks it might have been a good idea, because 3. A part of me thinks nuking Japan in 1945 might have been a good idea after all. Certainly most people in today's Communist China think it was a good idea to nuke Japan....Miss Ming....
