With all due respect to Mr Foy's (as always) informative and stimulating article, I notice this bit in the above-linked wikipedia bio of Frank Harris: "The British occultist, mystic, and sexual revolutionary Aleister Crowley lived with him in 1924" Well, at the risk of making an ad-hominem argument, I have some reservations about taking seriously any condemnations of "childish unreason" from a man who was a bosom-buddy of an open practitioner of witchcraft, and advocate of licentious sexual deviancy including "sex magic" involving invocation of supernateral spirits, aka demons.
