Britain once had a fine educational system, a society of manners and self-restraint, an aristocracy. What is happening to Britain today is an example of "the corruption of the best is the worst" or "lilies that fester smell far worse than weeds." Spiritual development is a necessity of societies as it is of individuals. Those who fail to progress spiritually fall behind into traps of rigidification - "gods that age become demons."
