I do not denigrate the American Protestant liberal tradition but respect it deeply. At the same time, I find much that is intellectually impressive about true continental conservatism and about Burke as a critic of the French Revolution. What I think was a disastrous mistake was confusing post-World War Two America for counterrevolutionary Europe. But I shouldn't give away everything in my book, which undoubtedly includes ideas that Sid would disagree with. Sent at: 2008 12 02
