Evangelicals probably have about as much connection to Luther and Calvin as Irish Catholic Democrats in New Jersey do to Thomas Aquinas. Hart and other traditional Protestant historians like George Marsden consider the Evangelicals to be politically and theologically adrift, and by now their misguided moral dogoodism, cum American imperialist seasoning and over-the-top Zionism, have made them a scary political force.
