The 17th C English Dissenters, esp. the Ranters ii. The First Great Awakening along with the Non-Subscriber Presbyterians, with emphasis on "inner light" and emotionalism iii. The 2nd Great Awakening of the 1830s, esp. the Cambellites (Disciples of Christ) and the "Church of Christ" and the 7th Day Adventists iv. around 1900, the Fundamentalists emerge as a negative response to "higher criticism" (historical-critical Biblical scholarship) and Darwinsim; at the same time the Pentecostals and the Dispensationalists begin. v.
