Message: Entry: Britain in the Ashtray: Notes on a Scandal Link: http://www.takimag.com/site/article/britain_in_the_ashtray_notes_on_a_scandal#549 Post contents: Mr Kuehl wrote: "75 years ago, at age 15, Kirk Douglas had an affair with a female teacher. It saved him from a life of gangs and crime, and he’s “eternally grateful." Yeah really. You got it. Although on the one hand, as a matter of categorical morality I believe it's better for middle-aged female teachers not to become lovers of their adolescent male students - on the other hand, I think it's a very venial, petty, small kind of sin, after all. (And the kind of sin which is mixed with virtue.) And I only wish that I had been introduced to eros like Kirk Douglas (a man whom I have always admired in many ways) was initated at age 15. All the better if Cate Blanchett were the initiator. Hm. Cate Blanchett is peculiar - she is not especially beautiful, but DAMN, in a peculiar way, she's built like Venus and she knows how to act that role. So, I can only WISH that at age 15 I were initiated by a Lady like Cate Blanchett. ;-) But then on the other hand, I think it is FAR MORE morally reprehensible for a middle-aged MAN to take advantage of an adolescent girl. WHY? Eh, I'm a reactionary and a sexist, and I believe in Chivalry, that's why. Young adolescent girls need to have their carnal virtues protected and defended, but young men need very different experiences. Mature MEN who take advantage of 15 year old girls, deserve to be castrated and sent to prison. But mature WOMEN who initiate young men into the ways of the flesh, deserve medals and laurels. So I say. Because I believe in Chivalry, and so I believe there is a world of difference between the male and female, when it comes to carnal love AND romantic love. Young women need to be protected. But young MEN need to be initiated, preferably by older women. And throughout history, many beautiful Older Women have agreed with what I have said here, and they still do. To paraphrase what the Frenchman said, "Thank heaven, for OLDER women!" (Let's see how any "feminist" readers react to THAT! ;-) Sent at: 2008 07 24
