Message: Entry: Britain in the Ashtray: Notes on a Scandal Link: http://www.takimag.com/site/article/britain_in_the_ashtray_notes_on_a_scandal#551 Post contents: its amazing that my brief comment -quoting Kirk Douglas as saying he was "eternally grateful" for having an affair at age 15 with his teacher, and noting the travesty of punishing this woman like a violent rapist or man who preyed on young and prepubescent children- could provoke such hatred, rage, and hysteria. He (she?) obviously believes that such women are "rapists" and "pedophiles," and that young man as old as 16 and 15 are "scarred for life" by such affairs and mere daliances -even if they're are unaware of their "traumatization" and, like old Kirk, are "eternally grateful." Incidentally, I also oppose draconian penalties for men convicted of "statutory rape" -i.e., de facto consensual sex between adults and pubescent teenagers under age 18- but that subjecting women to months and years in jails and prisons, "sex offender treatment" (to cure them of what exactly?), etc., is distinctly outrageous given the physical and psychological differences between the sexes.
