I know of his denonciation of Franco in "The Great Graveyards under the Moon" and how that led to an illuminating correspondence between him and Simone Weil who described similar atrocities in the Republican band (the Spanish Civil War seemed a war between evil and evil sometimes, and the lesser evil won).
