The thing the MSM didn't report was that the teenagers were hung for rape, not for sodomy. Now, admittedly, this could have been a trumped up charge. But MSM didn't even mention this fact. Amnesty International, widely cited as opposing the execution, opposed the execution because of both its long standing opposition to the death penalty in all cases and the alleged irregularities in the case. AI decided NOT to play up the gay angle. But these little nuances don't matter much to conservative and liberal Islamophobes.
