Message: Entry: More about Islamofascism Link: http://www.takimag.com/blogs/article/more_about_islamofascism#5716 Post contents: Paul Gottfried is quite right that terms must be precisely defined and correctly categorized (though good men can disagree about the definition and the category). "Fascist" is among such terms. John Lukacs goes even further in distinguishing Fascism from Naziism. Mussolini's movement, unless I'm mistaken, wasn't even racialist or Judeophobic. The correct category for all these terms, save "Edwardian", is "extremist nationalist". To build on what Gottfried has said, equally foolish is to call Hamiltonians "Fascists" ("Hobbesan" or "statist-captitalists" would be closer) or "Cultural Marxists". Doubtless there are superficial analogies, as Gottfried points out the the superficial analogy between Nazi Anti-Semitism and Judeophobic statements of some Muslims. In depth, Hamiltonianism and Fascism are different ideologies, albeit both rather wanting. Sent at: 2008 08 30
