There is no other explanation for it. We must not be too harsh on the nuns becuase their changing underwears every month or so. We must remember that the religion which has seen us born and grown, arose out of the sand flies and desert scorpions of the middle east, where filth,mite ridden, rodent infested, muck, dirt and sludge were ( and probably are even today) the patent marks of a community of humans.
