Buckley? In August 2005 I sent The American Conservative a letter, after reading your column about sailing with Mr. B aboard the Bushido. I quote in part: "Considering the name of your boat, I am amazed Mr. Buckley accepted your invitation to sail. A smart Mussulman never trusts a Deunme, and Mr. Buckley never should have hired those Jewish political converts who pollute the pages of National Review, which, like the White House, Congress and the Ayn Rand Society, is now Zionist-occupied territory. Editor Buckley was not a soup kitchen missionary. He ought to have known it was victuals, not scripture, that attracted those schnorrers... As a Conservative, he should appreciate the mediaeval custom of sequestering oneself in a monastery to hide from disgrace, but like Graham Greene's Harry Lime, he flaunts a Peter Pan-ish attitude toward his mistakes.
