As with all organized religion, a couple of marketing guys snap up a good idea and mold it into a construct that will allow them a good living here on earth. All those from the pope, who is a decent man in my opinion, on down to the last pedophile priest running a seminary, they all are making a good living selling life after death - and consuming the earning from this sale happily here on earth.
