Our troops are currently walking patrols in a nation that is roughly 70% Shia. One needn't be a Clausewitz to predict that any air assault on Iran (which provided key assistance to Iraq's embattled Shia population during the Saddam era) will likely trigger a formidable backlash against US forces in the region. Why would someone who wants the US to "win" in Iraq (whatever that means) be advocating such a foolhardy policy? I can only think of one viable theory: bombing Iran may not accomplish a damn thing militarily, but we can be sure it will drive a stake through any future Rapprochement between the US and Iran.
