Message: Entry: A Meditation for Guy Fawkes Day Link: http://www.takimag.com/blogs/article/a_meditation_for_guy_fawkes_day#8407 Post contents: PS, Johnny Z, As a gesture of affirming the essential Christian brotherhood between you and me - and the peace for which we both pray to come between your ancestral island and mine (well my Grandmother was Irish but my greatest ancestral love is for Britain) - here is a poem which I think you might already know, a poem recited by (Irish) Richard Harris during the Troubles in Ireland in the early 1970s. He speaks in the voice of Christ, and my favourite lines are: "I am not Orange, I am not Green; I am a half-ripe fruit Needing both colours to grow into ripeness, And shame on you who have withered my orchard. I in my poverty, alone without trust, Cry shame on you again and again, For converting me into a bullet, And shooting me into men's hearts."
