One of many things I learned volunteering for Pat Buchanan was the surprising extent of anti-Catholicism in America. Before volunteering for Buchanan, I had always believed anti-Catholicism to be largely extinct. But I was told my many evangelicals, who agreed with Pat on the issues, that they would never vote for him because he "wasn't a Christian." For some of these folks, the Enemy will always be Rome.
