It is always a joy to read your writings on Russia, too, because you understand that the Russians are a different lot. People in the US tend to believe that inside any Russian there is a small American waiting to get out. Well, they are fundamentally different. Normally it takes about 30 years to decide if you love them or hate them. I have not made up my mind yet. The icons reminded me that most religious art let you look at God, but through an Orthodox icon God is looking at you. As for the article, it is good to remind us that the Islamic terrorists really are not capable of destroying the US. There is not a single Western country that all the worlds terrorists, united, could defeat. If they could they would have already. Also mr. LaTulippe is absolutely correct in assuming that rigorously Islamic societies will implode when people get fed up, like communism did. Boredom would do the trick better than military intervention. The wiew of Europe surrendering to the demographics of immigration is far too pessimistic. Somehow it is always exemplified by Amsterdam or French suburbs. Well, if I were to spend time in San Fransisco I might make some pretty far-reaching conclusions about the reproductive prospects of Americans, but that would of course be untrue. The very reason most people immigrate to Europe, is the longing to live in a less oppressive society.
