Robertson Sells His Soul Link: http://www.takimag.com/site/article/rev_robertson_sells_his_soul#9151 Post contents: Tribalism is alive and well and that alone would put the lie to the grand proclamations of the End O History Boys. At some point, we will come to remember that the best qualifier of a people is their literacy when it comes to issues of liberty and self determination in furtherance to peace. By this measurement, our current munitions mad government would seem to be on par with the most militant of so-called primitive societies. Why we seem to be so intent upon recreating the perverse thinking of the Civil War era remains a mystery to me but rest assured that this too shall end. The seductions of partisan politics are revealed in the current uses of the terms "radical" and "conservative". Neither the National Review nor the militant clerics of either Christianity or Islam are truly conservative. Such is the case with the so-called "Cultural Marxism" of the "Liberals". The American Revolution and the nation it forged are an intellectual construct.....a celebration of the mind that has no geographic limits nor any racial constraints. To reduce it to such is to rebuke the very foundations of the Republic. It is high time that we abandon all this nativistic clap-trap for the more rigorous intellectualism of the Founders. Our liberty and the society we have developed to express it is stumbling badly. Our perverse actions feed the nativistic perversions of our opponents and it is to return to the original field of inquiry that we must return our efforts to. American liberty has neither race nor religious creed and when we remember this fact, we will come to demonstrate the essential divinity of the Enlightenment and her sweet fruit, the United States of America. Simply put, we've gone a tad wormy and our preoccupations with superstitious cranks like Robertson is compounding the derailment into a greater train wreck. This descent into nativism of the Ron Paul, Outlaw Christmasand Robertson streams on this web site would seem to indicate that the various resentments behind a Ron Paul candidacy may result in a bigger confusion than we already confront. We are becoming our own enemy ladies and gents and it is well past the time that we remember Diogenes admonition to Dio The Golden-Mouthed that if we do not know ourselves then we do not know man and so are ill-equipped to favor ourselves with God's benediction. I enjoy the vigorous debate folks but damned if we are failing to really stay on point here. Sent at: 2008 11 22
