He first says that <i>Nostra Aetate</i> says his x, not my y, and that this x is authoritative. Then he says that <i>Nostra Aestate</i> is a fudge, (if not a plot by "perfidious" Jews?), and thus by implication is NOT authoritative. We call this in logic a contradiction. He also says that clear teaching by an authoritative Ecumenical Council is not authoritative teaching. This too is a contradiction. Pastoral guideline (and <i>Nostra aetate</i> is more than these) are based on dogmatic principles. Find me an authoritative Church Document that is recognized today by the Magisterium as binding, or one after <i>Nostra aetate</i>, that would endorse "deicide". And don't quote me Paul IV, who deserved to be in a glass booth in Jerusalem. Readers can read <i>Nostra aetate</i>#4 for themselves, and see that I am correct. Then readers should read the official Vatican document <i>Guidelines of Religious Relations with Jews</i> from 1 December 1974, a commentary on <i>Nostra aetate</i> #4, especially in the Third Section. I have myself argued in the past, with many Denzinger references and citations, that the consistent teaching to the Church is not what my interlocutor says it is. Boyd Cathey has make no secret that he is not in full union with Rome. And for that he's an honest man. I thank him. I myself am not a sedevacantist or a mentevacantist. Sent at: 2008 05 15
