Message: Entry: Mopping up the Israel Lobby Link: http://www.takimag.com/site/article/mopping_up_the_israel_lobby#9328 Post contents: And here's a serious question for my friends Sid and Boyd (and others), whose discussions about the spiritual state of "the Jews" gave rise to so much theological dispute beyond my poor capacity to follow: Personally I'm a bit addicted to Occam's Razor - or more accurately, to Ball's machete - so I just wonder, why should Christians care about the spiritual status of "the Jews" at all, except insofar as Christians are obliged to profess the Gospel to all Mankind? Judaism isn't Christianity; therefore Christians ought to hope for the conversion of the Jews, and witness to them just like to everyone else. But otherwise, why bother to devote so much energy to analysing Vatican doctrines and Church councils concerning the Jews? Why not simply say they're not Christians, and leave it at that?
