I'm saying that Stalin and his successors pretended to care about "Communism" as a ruse to sustain their own Party's legitimacy in the USSR, and to dupe useful idiots in other countries to collaborate with them. (And gloss: Castro didn't become pro-Soviet because he cared about "Communism"; he allied himself with the USSR, and called himself a "Communist", because he was anti-American.) But I mostly agree with you that both nationalism and internationalism are enemies of true patriotism - a word which you didn't use, but I'm suggesting it to you as an alternative to both nationalism AND internationalism.
