I find such use of labels disingenuous. One can maintain that racial differences actually are real and palpable, without being labeled (by you) as a "racist" or "Stormfronter." Such a tactic should really be beneath you and perverts honest discussion on these threads. Just the past Sunday (Nov. 11), for instance The (Raleigh) NEWS AND OBSERVER ran a front-page article, taken from THE NEW YORK TIMES, stating what most folks already know: that racial differences are not just skin deep; that there are indeed distinguishable, inheritable traits. Now, normally, I would not quote The NYT...but that "the old grey lady" seems a bit worried about the irrepressible biological facts of race, should say something to anyone who can read. Because someone states that there are biological DIFFERENCES or that races are "not equal" (that is, not the same) in certain characteristics, it does not follow tbat "hatred" or "racism" are then necessary by-products. To recognize difference is not to, ipso facto, express hatred....rather it should be a motive to celebrate the variety of creation. Lastly, as Catholic I desire the salvation of all mankind, whether white, yellow, red, brown, or black. I believe that all men have souls. But by the same token, none of us is judged on how others act or think; we are judged on how we match up to our own potential, in God's eyes. Egalitarianism the Church has condemned repeatedly. The Church has never taught biological egalitarianism, nor has any pope so taught (as pope). They may have or may have had personal opinions, but biological differences are outside the scope of theology and church doctrine. If Philippe Rushton or Jared Taylor should suggest that DNA and IQ testing indicates "differences" biologically that does not in any way make them "Brown" or, for that matter, "Stormfronters." And for anyone to infer such epithets is only worthy of a Morris Dees or other trendy Leftie. We need to regain, it seems to me, a balance on these topics, and stop parroting the "p.c." Left, and attempting to "enforce" a "p.c." wall on these threads. Sadly, some even on the "Paleo" Right appeared to be infected, and their desires parallel the worse excommunicatory excesses of Dees and others like him. We need to avoid such labeling...it is a poor excuse for thinking and engaging in real discussion. Sent at: 2008 09 07
