In fact, Lukacs has stated that a patriot is more likely to be a nativist than is a nationalist. Lukacs notes that most of the infamous "nationalists" in history are not even natives to the nations they claim (falsely) to champion. Napoleon wasn't from France, Hitler not from Germany, Stalin not a native of Russia. In point of fact, the definition of nationalism that Purcell uses here is much more applicable to the alleged victims of an alleged American nationalism than to the historic Anglo-Celtic American population. Any person who is alive saw the nationalism of the massive illegal alien population on display in the last two years. Black nationalism was on display in the Jena Six case. Then of course there is the nationalism of those attacking Ron Paul for being opposed to using American blood and treasure to fight a series of wars in the Middle East for un-American reasons.
