However, we have, I believe, a primary obligation towards our own family (first level), then our broader (and historic) community, be that a state or nation (second level). By the same token, I can take justifiable pride in my traditions, my state and region, and...my race, as well. In fact, I should love and defend them all---I just can't turn them into my univocal "god." There is only ONE God, and He is a jealous God. I cannot substiture "race" or "nation" or whatever in His place; but, again, I CAN and should develop a healty love for and pride in who I am, my family,my heritage, my culture, my traditions, and, and yes, my race. And I should defend these things against those who would attack them or attempt to destroy them. I recognize that it's a fine line, sometimes. Sent at: 2008 11 22
