The ignoring of Paul is aimed at the vast majority of the population that doesn’t follow politics closely. The Neocon part of the MSM and its smear campaign is aimed at those on the center right who follow politics but only through “reliable” sources from the perspective of the Neocons and their Left wing allies. This situation will only change when the Old right or Paleo side gets its own presence in the MSM, via a cable TV channel and/or a major urban newspaper. Until this happens, even events that one would assume would cause a re-thinking by the populace won’t because the MSM will be able to spin those events in the direction of further Neocon-Leftwing policies, just as they did with 911. All revolutions, including counter-revolutions, are made by rising classes and unfortunately, most of Paul’s supporters don’t come from the rising class in America. Even Paul’s tech community support comes from those under assault from imported labor. The Neocons and their Leftwing allies still represent the rising class, in both power and wealth. The only weakness of the Neocon-Leftwing class is that it is narrow, with an even more narrowly focused agenda. This narrowness leaves open the possibility for a very broad coalition in opposition to the Neocon-Leftwing game plan. What this opposition can achieve is yet to be seen, but we shouldn’t underestimate what opposition can do in the short run. Just preventing the Neocons from going ahead with its agenda of more wars abroad and more deracination at home can prepare for a more successful counter-revolution. Sent at: 2008 07 23
