I have always wondered what motivates anybody to throw their conscience overboard and promote the killing of an unborn or “partially” born child other than greed? And I am wondering if there is really that much money in that business. We all know that the talk of “choice” and “saving mothers lives” etc. are just empty phrases (at least compared to the fate of the unborn). In our US society I cannot think of any case short of endangering the life of the mother, where the consequences of an unwanted pregnancy (at most 9 months of inconvenience) would outweigh the moral obligation towards the unborn life the woman carries. Are those that promote abortion not really furthering a much more sinister agenda?

I know it’s difficult to comprehend, Mr. Hoermann, but there are those of us who believe that our bodies belong to ourselves not your church or your state.  There are those of us who find pregnancy repulsive and children pointless. The first course of action would be to avoid natural behavior that is designed to create children. If you want to the pleasures of the act but not the consequences, have yourself ”fixed” in a way that the pregnancy will not happen. And I agree with you wholeheartedly that your body belongs to you and not the state or the church. However, in this society, we all have a pact with each other, where we protect the weaker from violence and harm inflicted by the stronger, and I am sure you are not only a beneficiary of this policy, but also an ardent supporter. So I think that our differences come down to the simple fact that I consider the unborn child my equal, worthy of all the protections I claim for myself, while you see it as something beneath even an animal that is protected by anti-cruelty laws. This brings me back to my original question: What are the real goals of people, who promote this absolutely amoral and inhumane view and instill it in people like you? I am sure you did not get it from your parents.
