Catherine the Passionate

Posted by Justin Raimondo on March 06, 2008

Understatement of the week: Our award goes to David Remnick, of The New Yorker, who, in a profile of Dmitry Medvedev, Russia’s newly elected President, writes: “Catherine the Great was a passionate equestrienne.”

Well, uh, yes—you could put it that way.

lighten up

That is total B.S.

T’Hell is wrong with you, Raimondo?

This post should be taken down immediately. This kind of crap can ruin the reputation of this entire site

Justin:

I regret to inform you that this rumor about
Catherine II has no basis in fact.

In a sense it is a pity, because the horse did
not aim to any office, nor did as that she gave
her gifts of land, that included the serfs, who
then became his personal property.

There is a lot to criticize about the lady. Extreme
fondness for horses is not it.

This story is pure trash and not based upon any historical fact. I am very disappointed that this site would feature such lewd nonsense. Very disappointed.

Justin,

For Christ’s sake get this rubbish off here. Catherine was one of the greatest women who ever lived. This is in very poor taste, not worthy of your endorsement.
