Export Blues

Posted by Tom Piatak on August 19, 2008

While our leaders ponder the burning question of how deeply into the Caucasus we want to extend NATO, evidence continues to mount that the economic strength that allowed America to triumph in the Cold War, and that has allowed a large American middle class to flourish, is continuing to ebb away as a result of globalism.  Yesterday Louis Uchitelle reported in the New York Times that the decline in the dollar has brought about an increase in American exports, but that this increase has been largely limited to an increase in commodity exports--Uchitelle cites “corn, wheat, ore, and scrap metal"--and not a corresponding increase in the export of manufactured goods.  One of the reasons for this is, as Fanklin Vargo of the National Association of Manufacturers relates, that “We have achieved a worldwide manufacturing base, and we are not going to shut down our factories overseas.” Indeed, the percentage of multinational corporations’ operations taking place in the United States has declined from 75% in 1999 to 70% today.  An increasing reliance on commodity exports is not a formula for either political or economic strength, and our leaders would be well-advised to focus on preserving our manufacturing base and the middle class manufacturing helped create, rather than indulging in the fantasies of globalism.

Didn’t the definition of a third-world nation used to be that it imported manufactured goods and exported raw materials?  For some strange reason I’ve been calling the United States Argentina del Norte for going on three decades.

But the “indulging in the fantasies of globalism” makes them feel like cosmopolitan citizens of the world and confirms (to them) what good people they are. They get to love themselves which, as Whitney Houston sung, is the “greatest love of all.” What better song to sum up the liberal cult-of-the-self.

If I get laid-off, maybe I can get a job at Chick Filet. At least I won’t have to work on the Sabbath.

The Empire has marched itself into colony-hood and everyone is getting nose rings, tattoos, earlobe bones and peasant attire to celebrate.

Bang a drum, eat a friend...In Missiles We Trust.
“We Are The World”.......how true, we’re a third world nation in the making.

First of all, they’re not “our” leaders. That’s how and why we are continually being
marched down the road to serfdom. I ditto all of the above except to add we have no
mainstream press of our own, either. Lose the mainstream press to another culture, you
lose the culture, you lose your country. Also the weak dollar is not helping much, I’ll
just repeat the above, because we as a nation have nothing to export except commodities
and ‘crap’ or scrap. The idea that china will continue to ‘boom’ (and be able to lend
us extraordinarily large sums to keep us afloat) is an illusion. China right now sells most of its exports to the u.s. and in particular to walmart. When Americans no longer have the money to buy from
walmart china goes bust as well = globalism. Our debt financing system which has
gotten us into this mess, since also another form of a ponzi or pryramid scheme, always
requires the next infusion of capital from ‘elsewhere’ or the next theft or expropriation
of another nation’s or landmass’s resources or it folds implodes upon itself. That’s why
russia, iraq, iran these are all necessary ‘targets’ for the debt financing beast to
be continually eyeing to see under what pretext (war, etc.) they can get in on the feast what the
pyramid needs to absorb next or the beast be fed next to surivive ‘as is.’ Once it has
sucked its own nation dry, it has to look globally for its next sustenance to keep on.
Problem is globalism also creates inter-dependency as in the case for example of china
& u.s. = globalism. If Congress to ameliorate the pain merely prints more money to solve
these problems and creates more unfunded liabilities and more fiat paper it only causes
inflation to spike or run away. If inflation runs away suppliers with the American chain
itself lose confidence things start disappearing from the shelves - panic - = globalism.
Then starving everyone says ‘hey wait a minute lets just do everything right here, in
our own state, our own city, our own town SCREW the screws and their goddamned
globalism = globalism. In other words we were robbed, had, and now we all start over =
globalism. I would highly recommend at that point we at least learned the lesson: it all
begins and ends with being sure to keep and maintain OUR OWN mainstream press & media.
-?- What else is new?

We have hit a new high in oil exports. That’s why we need off shore drilling. We need to seel our oil to make up for the loss of our manufacturing base.

I have tried to explain to people that we are a Chinese colony but get blank stares.

The white supremacists on the site might consider fleeing to Argentina
