On the same day that Trump Jr. posted his Skittles tweet, authorities arrested an Afghan-born Jersey resident on suspicion of orchestrating the bombing in NYC the previous weekend. And the suspect charged with shooting up a Washington State mall last weekend? He was born in Turkey.

So, yeah”€”no major Syrian-refugee terrorist troublemakers to see here. Not yet, anyway.

But they’re raising hell in Europe. Refugees”€”a quarter of whom were Syrian”€”committed more than 200,000 crimes in Germany last year alone. Then there were the two terror attacks in one day pulled off by Syrian refugees in Germany this past July. And the four Syrian refugees nabbed in France for plotting an attack in Germany. And the Syrian asylum-seeker arrested in Germany for hacking a woman to death with a machete. And the two teenage Syrian refugees who confessed to strangling an Austrian man to death in his bathtub.

But it can’t happen here…right?

A 2014 study found that 13% of Syrian refugees have a “positive to some extent” opinion of ISIS. Hillary Clinton has promised to increase the number of Syrian refugees into the USA more than fivefold.

For all of the greasy, disingenuous blather about Hitler and xenophobia and fear and bigotry, the racial hostility I sense most acutely in this saga is that of global elites for the host populations they are forcing to diversify. The gated elites who play with peasants’ lives as if they were chess pieces can spout off about imagined phobias all they want, but their propaganda and their policies suggest they are deeply afraid of majority-white countries.

To deny that demographic changes lead to cultural changes”€”often detrimentally so, at least to the host population”€”is to deny reality.

My son goes to school not far from what is now considered the worst neighborhood in America, made so by the influx of mostly African, almost entirely Muslim refugees. I had no say in this matter. If I say anything at all, I’m Hitler.

A friend of mine lives about a mile from that apartment complex. His neighborhood was clean and safe when he bought his house a few years ago, but he was recently awakened in the middle of the night by a drive-by shooting that left bullet shells in his driveway. And he recently was informed that a Muslim family that moved in down the block has been sacrificing goats in the backyard. But if he says anything…Hitler.

When I was at a local Walmart last week and saw two women cruising the aisles in full burkas, I didn’t think of Syrian Skittles or Jewish mushrooms. I thought of a line that was popular when I was a kid:

There goes the neighborhood.
