How comforted I feel knowing that the guardians of the republic are so easily duped by a snot-nosed millennial with a popular toy.

From living in D.C., I can tell you that most of the city’s press corps come from blue-blood families who either paid for little Johnny’s reporter gig or subsidized their fancy apartment (and bar tab) until they got on a payroll. If you read their Twitter feeds, their attitudes are supercilious and entitled. They make up scandals and slant coverage, then party hardy with their colleagues over $12 cocktails. All the while, these Acela Corridor whores look down upon the rest of the country as provincial slobs who deserve nothing but low-wage drudgery.

I cannot emphasize this enough: Fuck these folks.

When Trump says, “€œI’m going to continue to attack the press,”€ he should be cheered on by anyone who values honest news coverage. Is it presidential to malign the media with name-calling? Of course not. But is it a respectable response? It depends on whom you ask, frankly. When your tribe (that is, conservative Republicans) has been taunted, jeered, and made fools of from behind the shield of “€œjournalism”€ for decades, sooner or later something snaps.

Since the days of Nixon, the popular press has had it out for traditionalists, giving unfair advantage to Democrats. The progressive media has gotten away with unjustly smearing GOP candidates for so long, it’s time to push back without reservation. By all means, call them pricks over social media, mock them in comment sections, and applaud Donald Trump when he calls them “€œslime.”€

The “€œfree”€ press has failed in this country. To hell with its esteem, I say. We don”€™t need to go as far as the new Philippine president, Rodrigo Duterte, and threaten to off media figures. But until we get an honest press, all D.C. journos should be treated with the same attitude they reserve for Middle America: utter contempt.
