Harvey Weinstein

His second? He made the one mistake this town doesn’t forgive: He had a dry spell. He stopped being an earner. Weinstein was known for manipulating actors into accepting smaller paychecks in exchange for promises of Oscar gold. That strategy worked only as long as Weinstein could guarantee those coveted statuettes. He was a man who’d stoop to any level to ensure an Oscar win. Back in 2004, it was well-known among Hollywood Republicans that Weinstein was secretly trying to whip Christian conservatives into a furious frenzy over Million Dollar Baby’s “pro-assisted-suicide” message, because he saw that film as the biggest Oscar threat to his own The Aviator. Weinstein hated Christian rightists, but he had no problem using them to try to rob another film of an award. He always did everything he could to create negative publicity for competing films.

You make a lot of enemies doing that kind of thing. And the minute you become weak, the minute you go two or three awards seasons in a row without a win, the people you’ve crossed smell blood and pounce (think of chimps revolting against a despised alpha). At the beginning of the current scandal, only a few chimps, I mean actors, spoke out against Weinstein. But once everyone saw that his final gambit to stay in power had failed (“I’m taking time off from filmmaking to defeat the evil NRA!”), everyone piled on. And those who might have continued to defend Weinstein—Tarantino, Damon, Affleck—found themselves playing save-ass, trying desperately not to get sucked down with him.

But what about the “Jew” angle? Is there anything specifically Jewish about Weinstein and his troubles? Mark Oppenheimer, editor-at-large of Tablet magazine, certainly thinks so. In a piece Richard Spencer described as being as good as anything from the Daily Stormer, Oppenheimer declared that Weinstein is an example of “specifically Jewy perviness.” His assertion is not that only Jews use their power and influence to sexually exploit or assault women. Clinton, Cosby, Savile, the Kennedys, and a thousand other examples prove that isn’t true. Rather, Oppenheimer’s claim is that Weinstein perved for specifically Jewy reasons—to dominate and humiliate shiksas as a way of getting back at the goys. Basically, Oppenheimer thinks Weinstein spent his entire adult life purposely reenacting a Streicher cartoon.

Needless to say, the op-ed was roundly denounced, and Oppenheimer soon apologized. But it nevertheless deserves to be asked: Was he correct? Well, yes and no. Weinstein was known to flap his wangdoodle at anything with two legs and breasts (and the leg part was negotiable), including Jewish women. However, because physical beauty is a requirement for being considered an ingenue in this town, Weinstein simply as a matter of course came into contact with a disproportionate number of gentile women (no hard feelings, Jewish girls; you’ll always have stand-up). That he pawed more shiksas than yentas doesn’t necessarily prove intent; he was playing the field, and the field is disproportionately shiksa.

Yet still, there is a Jewish element to the Weinstein story. Jews are, and this is news to no one, overrepresented among the ranks of Hollywood executives. I feel comfortable saying this because I see nothing wrong with it, just as I see nothing wrong with the fact that Asians (and males in general) are overrepresented in the STEM field (it’s funny how some of the anti-affirmative-action types on the far right suddenly discover a desire for “equal representation” when it comes to fields in which Jews excel). For a lot of Jewish men, the entertainment industry is their conduit to meeting beautiful non-Jewish women. Think about it; how else is a fat, nerdy Jew-boy from the coasts ever going to come into contact with hundreds of pristine shiksas from the Midwest and Europe? A yid like Harvey Weinstein was only able to get in the same room as someone like Kate Beckinsale because of her dreams of stardom and his ability to produce successful films. But the fact that a lot of Jewish men use Hollywood as a kind of dating service doesn’t necessarily make the situation predatory, because in the best-case scenarios—say, Kate Capshaw, an astonishingly mediocre actress who won the affections of Steven Spielberg—both parties profit.

Again I’ll say, I don’t necessarily see anything bad about this. But one must be tactful, something Weinstein wasn’t. Just listen to the NYPD wire recording of him pleading like a child to have some bimbo watch him shower. It’s humiliating; the guy’s a disgrace. This was a man with no skill, a man with no dignity. An obese, vulgar New Yawker who became a master landscaper in a Jewish-built Garden of Eden, only to blow it because he couldn’t stop violently shaking the trees in his insatiable lust for fruit.

The man was ham-fisted. And of all people, a Jew should know that isn’t kosher.
