Many believe Adam Lanza was on Adderall. His photos sure as hell look like he was on amphetamines. What if the root cause of all of these past shootings was the result of the sleep deprivation Adderall provides? Adam Lanza’s toxicology reports are not open to the public, but he was believed to have Asperger’s, and treatments for this condition often include dextroamphetamine and methamphetamine (street names: dexy’s and meth). On top of the onslaught of uppers these shooters seem to be on, we need to question how these drugs mix with antidepressants. Going up and down at the same time is not a natural state of being. Just ask Jean-Michel Basquiat, John Belushi, Chris Farley, and Philip Seymour Hoffman.

Another bug-eyed killer of late was “€œBatman shooter”€ James Holmes. He was on a generic Zoloft called sertraline (Pfizer) and a generic Klonopin called clonazepam (Roche). Zoloft comes with a “€œblack box warning”€ because it can lead to suicide. The FDA does not approve it for patients under 18. Klonopin is equally dangerous and its effects have been described as “€œbeginning with an energized sense of euphoria but ending up with horrifying sense of anxiety and paralysis, akin to sticking your tongue into an electric outlet.”€ David Foster Wallace had Klonopin in his system when he killed himself, and Stevie Nicks claims the drug was the worst thing that ever happened to her. So what happens when we combine suicidal urges with horrifying anxiety? I”€™m guessing it’s even worse than hearing a rape joke. A “€œMental Health Watchdog”€ group calling itself CCHR (Citizens Commission on Human Rights) links 35 school shootings to psychiatric drugs.

I”€™m not saying we need to outlaw pharmaceuticals. I”€™m not blind. When I see a homeless man screaming at the sky, it’s clear he’s off his meds. I think Adderall can be a very helpful drug and my fellow dads call it “€œDadderall”€ when they have a lot to do at work but also want to be present for the kids when they get home. John Stossel has made some great points about the FDA and how it prevents major strides in medicine. I”€™m not comfortable with more government regulation stepping in to solve this problem. All I know is there is a problem here and nobody’s talking about it. Our children are too high. It may get you in trouble with your advertisers, but it’s worth looking past flags and jokes and guns to see what role Big Pharma has in these shootings. This is no joke.
