In a moment of weakness, I gave Ilana?s last column the eye-brow-raising title ?Fucking Libertarians!? Ilana didn?t like the idea one bit, and, in her wisdom, requested that I add a disclaimer. She later informed me that some colleagues had reacted harshly to the title, as they thought I was showing disrespect to Ilana and our libertarian friends and allies, not to mention our readers. Nothing could be further from the truth, of course. What I was trying to convey was the sense of exasperation I get whenever I read strained, pseudo-libertarian equivocations like the ones Ilana alludes to and am moved to sink my head into my hands and/or roll my eyes and utter the aforementioned malediction. I don?t want Takimag to be prudish?it is Taki?s magazine after all?however, there?s a place and time to be outlandish, vulgar, and over the top, and this simply wasn?t it. The title has been cleaned up. Mea Culpa.
