The line of the night from Michelle Obama: “And Joe Biden, who’s never forgotten where he came from!”
Well, er, I actually think he did forget where he came from. At one point, it seems, Biden thought that he grew up in a working-class coal-mining town in Northern England.
When Michelle said this and the camera flashed up to Joe in the balcony, I thought I could detect a little pang as he recognized the irony in the statement. But perhaps I was just seeing things.
