Dry Run

According to Prof. Dan Feller of the Jackson Papers project at the University of Tennessee, PBS’s “History Detectives” program will run an episode on Monday, July 6 about a letter from Junius Brutus Booth to then-president Andrew Jackson.  The episode will feature the Jackson Papers staff’s conclusion that far from a pseudonymous prank, the letter is authentic:  John Wilkes Booth’s father did threaten to kill President Andrew Jackson.  The letter is dated July 4, 1835.
