Focus on Hispanic Family Values

A 42-year-old immigrant from the Dominican Republic was arrested last week in an Internet sex sting, accused of arranging to meet an undercover cop posing as a 15-year-old girl. This has produced much glee among left-wing bloggers, because Juan Alberto Ovalle was employed by Focus on the Family, thus reinforcing the favorite liberal message that all Christian conservatives are repressed hypocritical perverts.

Of course, if conservatives ever resort to such arguments, this is called “stereotyping,” and reinforces the favorite liberal mesage that all conservatives are hateful bigots. Therefore, no one on the right should make reference to the California case in January when Macelino de Jesus Martinez was accused of trying to sell his 14-year-old daughter to Margarito de Jesus Galindo “for $16,000, 100 cases of Corona, 50 cases of Modelo beer, several cases of meat, two cases of wine, 50 cases of Gatorade and 50 cases of soft drinks.”

For that matter, no conservative should cite Heather Mac Donald’s research on “Hispanic family values,” nor refer to any statistics about teen pregnancy and poverty among Hispanics.

When the Left does that kind of stuff, it’s called “research” and “investigative journalism.” When the Right does it, it’s just hate.
