Free Trade and Globalism

I agree with Richard Spencer and Kevin DeAnna that Obama probably lacks a coherent economic philosophy.  But I do think that Matthew Roberts is right to point to the globalist ideology that Obama has imbibed, along with virtually all the others in our ruling class.  This globalism is not new; it is an intrinsic part of the free trade philosophy.  Indeed, Frederic Bastiat, still widely quoted among right-wing libertarians, saw free trade as leading to the “peaceful, ecumenical, and indissoluble union of the peoples of the world.”  It is hard to get more globalist than that.
