Richard’s recent post reminded me of a discussion I witnessed on Bill Maher’s old Politically Incorrect show during the 2000 election cycle.  That night Maher had the usual assortment of left-liberals along with one dissident voice who kept prattling on about the massive amounts of waste in the NASA budget, its long tradition of failure, and the imperial mindset that guides space exploration in general.  Nodding my head in agreement I was amazed to discover that this man was a candidate for President and a Socialist candidate at that.  I did not vote for David McReynolds in 2000 but the irony of that broadcast will never escape my memory. 

“Socialists Against Government Waste!” 

A mantra perhaps for the modern GOP?
