On The Justice Of Clearing Churchill

Whatever one may think of Ward Churchill, the news that the former University of Colorado professor won his case against the school is a positive development.  Though the charges of academic fraud levied against Churchill were the stated reasons for his termination, it was evident to anyone following the case that his dismissal was based almost entirely on his controversial essay “On The Justice Of Roosting Chickens.”  One does not have to agree with the reasoning employed by Mr. Churchill in that essay, to understand the dangerous precedent that would have been set for all of those with un-PC views had Churchill’s termination been allowed to stand.  Conservatives may not be celebrating over the verdict, but any other outcome would have been much worse.
