Tom Piatak says that according to me, “liberalism is the only political tradition in the United States.” Since I corrected another writer who earlier mischaracterized my argument in the same way, and since Piatak refers to the very piece in which I made that correction, I must infer that Piatak’s misstatement is not inadvertent. What, then, can be his motive? Readers will have to decide for themselves.
