Some sample testimonials from the POCs who claim to have been microaggressed upon:

People do not necessarily say I do not belong, but I feel as if I do not when I am in a classroom and I am the one non-White person. (Latina, Female)

I was in a class and mentioned that I had visited South Asia a few months back. After I mentioned that, the professor immediately asked me if I had ever ridden “€¨an elephant only because I was from South Asia. I was not necessarily insulted, but I did feel it was a really stereotypical question to ask and she asked me in front of the entire class. I thought it was rude. (Asian, Female)

When I raise my hand, I am often not called upon. After a while, I found myself refraining from asking questions. (African American, Male)

When will such hatred end? This is the year 2015, isn’t it? Isn’t this why we fought the Civil War and, um, Hitler? Didn’t everyone start smoking dope and throwing rocks at cops back in the 1960s just so that fifty years later, paranoid Latina females can imagine that white students are silently hating them even though these gringos haven’t done the slightest thing to suggest such a thing?

According to the study’s authors, certain snooty white classmates said that nonwhites who complained about microaggressions were merely whiny babies that were “angry,” “overreacting,” or “defensive.” The authors say that such accusations constitute yet “another racial microaggression” committed by the startlingly impenitent whites.

Sure, it may not seem like much”€”or, more reasonably, it may seem like nothing at all”€”but the authors claim that cumulatively, such microaggressions inflict severe harm upon the hapless nonwhite students of the University of Illinois. Suffering such constant invisible psychic needling invariably causes students of color to endure “fear, resentment, helplessness, isolation, stress and exhaustion.” It can also lead to “physical symptoms such as, [sic] headaches, high blood pressure, and fatigue.”

To remedy these imaginary torments and tortures, the study’s authors recommend that all students be forced to “complete a General Education requirement about race, White privilege, and inequality in the United States.” They “must take both a non-Western culture and a US people of color cultural course,” too. Not only that, the university system should “Include diversity and inclusion in a third of the curriculum of all college 101 classes.”

And really, who besides an incurable bigot would be against including inclusion? Why do we even need to teach anyone math and logic when we can just keep telling them that white people are assholes?

I sincerely doubt that “racial microaggressions” against nonwhites are a problem on American college campuses. It seems like these days, most white people would rather slit their own throats than be accused of racism. The more likely scenario is that idiotic concepts such as “racial microaggressions” comprise an ongoing act of passive-aggression toward white people. And there’s nothing “micro” about it. Instead, it’s right out there in the open.
